pull existing volunteers into leadership roles at the board level
If you want to grow new leaders you must give them opportunity on the global stage to grow. There is no reason we cant have more people invloved in committees at the board level. For instance, allowing a group of volunteers to evaluate the elections processes instead of pushing this work back to the board.

I love this idea and I know some of us have had conversations like this in the past. After leaving my first Summit I was inspired and energized making a goal to run for the board in 5 years. Working on year 2 I have no idea how to get there from here. I can't imagine that I am alone.
Great feedback from you both - thank you.

I agree. The role of a board is to govern and execute the business of the organization, not to do all the work. The strongest boards I've been part of have very strong committee processes and the board ensures that work is done via smaller, focused groups, not just board members. This helps alleviate board burn out as well as grow new leaders.
